We have all heard about protein powders, but what is the difference between these and getting protein from food?
They both have quite a few differences and benefits. Most people who are consuming a properly balanced diet are already getting enough protein, so when would protein supplements be necessary?
Protein shakes are often chosen due to the fact that they are an easy and convenient way to get your protein, especially after a workout. Since you only have a 90-minute window in which to get the most benefits from protein after working out, a protein shake would be the better choice. This is due to the fact that food can sometimes take longer than 90 minutes to make the protein useable for your muscles. However, you shouldn’t completely cut out the protein that you are getting from foods, because food offers you added nutrients that protein shakes often fail to provide. They both seem to have benefits and uses, but you also need to be careful when adding extra protein in your diet, because if you consume too much, it can be stored as fat.
