Detoxing After The Holidays!

Ok, we all ate the foods we weren’t supposed to and maybe we weren’t all as consistent as usual with our workouts, so what can we do to help get our bodies back on track?! We recommend trying to help your body get rid of all of those built up toxins. Here are some tips that we have compiled to help you do this!

  • Eliminate or minimize all of the bad fats, sugars, starches, simple carbs, and processed foods from your house!! Throw out or give away all of the leftover cakes and cookies!!!  Instead, fill it with whole grains, oats, and organic fruits! Create a healthy meal plan for yourself so that you are more likely to stick to your eating habits, and less likely to indulge in snacks and unhealthy foods!

  • Start your mornings by drinking 1 tbs. of organic apple cider vinegar mixed with 12 oz. water! Apple cider vinegar is good in decreasing intestinal bloating, promotes gastrointestinal health, and promotes friendly bifido bacterial growth! If you can’t stand the taste, try mixing it with organic honey, stevia, or agave.

  • Exercise!!! Exercising helps you lose weight, detox, and makes you feel more energized! Aim for atleast 20-30 minutes of a moderate workout daily! Also, exercise helps you feel more positive about your body, which usually leads to healthier eating decisions.
  • Drink Water!!! Water helps your body by flushing it from the inside out! If you drank too much alcohol and consumed too much sugar, your body will feel bloated, and drinking water will provide you with almost instant relief, by getting rid of the extra fluids in your body.

  • Add Probiotics to your diet!! There are tons of different strands that help your body by promoting healthy bacterial growth which can benefit your digestive tract. There are numerous foods that contain probiotics:
    • Kimchi
    • Natto
    • Miso
    • Tempeh
    • SauerKraut
    • Kefir
    • Greek Yogurt
    • Kombucha!! This is our favorite drink!!
  • Eliminate or minimize alcohol and caffeine intake! These both contain toxins and can cause dehydration in your body. Plus, alcohol consumption often leads to your body feeling hungry again and overeating.
  • Limit Sodium Intake! Sodium causes water retention which can give you that “puffy” look.
  • Start researching vegan eating! We know that eating vegan isn’t for everyone, but once you start to research it, you will atleast realize the intelligence in it. Plus, if you decide to permanently switch over to vegan eating, your body will barely ever be filled with toxins again!
  • Find a way to get yourself motivated again! Try making vision boards, starting a new workout class, finding a workout buddy, or even making a workout calendar. The biggest thing to getting your body back on track is to not dwell on the past. You may have eaten too many cookies or drank too much eggnog, but theres nothing that you can do about that now! So, pick yourself back up and make a decision to start getting healthier now!
